Palm Springs 22nd Annual International Film Festival – (Activity Level: 2) - 6 films – speakers & critiquing. Three days of exciting film viewing at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. Join experts and fellow cinema buffs to view stimulating new film productions in competition from worldwide studios. Experience a range of emotions: laughter, tears and sometimes outrage. Palm Springs is the perfect showcase for the Film Festival that makes it possible for thousands to see movies from around the world that they would not, otherwise, be able to see. Six films are scheduled through Sunday morning. Critiquing sessions and guest speakers enhance your enjoyment of the films. Learn about some of the history of the desert that encompasses the Palm Springs area. Enjoy a guided field trip of the area. Become familiar with some of the desert flora and fauna from local experts. Improve your judgment in: Bidding (overcalls, take-out doubles, weak 2's, Jacoby transfers), Play (plan, suit development, trump management.) Defense (opening leads, signals). Practice hands will be played as time permits. This Bridge program is not for beginners. What elevates ordinary cooking to haute cuisine? Learn the 'trade secrets' from our chef while preparing selected appetizers, soups, salads and desserts. Palm Springs in Profile (Activity Level: 2) - Palm Springs is a state of mind as much as a place! The peaceful desert contrasts with the excitement of its storybook history, its eccentric charm and eternal appeal. With expert guides, we will learn about the fascinating Windmill Farms, the Holocaust Memorial, the dramatic Indian Canyons and local history. Aboard the new revolving Aerial Tram, we pass through five distinct ecological zones as we ascend Mt. San Jacinto (8,500 feet) for a panoramic view of the valley (camera and binoculars are a must)!
