1. Registration and Check-In
CELS, a Program Provider for Road Scholar, registration is between 4:00 - 4:30. At CELS registration you will be given a CELS packet with the week’s schedule, participation list, special events and a smile. A wine social, introductions, and Orientation follow registration at 5:00pm on the first day of the program. Please bring your CELS packet, reading glasses and pen/pencil to Orientation. Read the announcement board in the lobby for details. Check in at the hotel desk, after 3:30, to see if your room is ready. Dinner is scheduled for 6:00 PM at a nearby restaurant.

4. Lodging
Located in the heart of downtown Palm Springs where you can enjoy the exciting nightlife, great restaurants, quaint shops, boutiques, galleries and casinos,  pool, spa, free airport shuttle. 1 block to the Palm Springs Art Museum and the Fabulous Palm Springs Follies. This is a non-smoking facility. The hotel's palm tree-lined pool terrace is the resorts focal point and this oasis of sun, fun and color has it all:  a refreshing micro-mister system, comfortable sun lounges, a pretty pool, and a Jacuzzi.  For the fitness minded, the Palm Mountain Resort offers guests access to a complete health and wellness center.  This area of Palm Springs is great for your morning walk or jog. Each room has a refrigerator, microwave, television, phone, hair dryer, coffee maker, iron/board and 2 double beds or a king upon request. The resort offers a large heated outdoor pool, Jacuzzi, laundry, free use of computer center, and a full service spa next door. Daily maid service. Please let us know if you will be traveling with others so we can try to put you near one another. This, of course, is subject to the availability of rooms. We do have handicap accessible rooms some with roll in showers. The resort is just minutes from the airport (with free pickup) and heart of downtown Palm Springs. City bus (SunLine) stops nearby. 5. Meals
3 Night Program – 3 Continental Breakfasts; 2 Lunches; 2 dinners

6. Requesting a Roommate
When there are participants requesting a roommate, each two people (of the same sex) will be assigned to one room (having two beds). Important: If you originally requested to be assigned a roommate, and then change to request a Single room on your All Programs Document (which you send to us), you must contact Road Scholar Boston to arrange for payment of the single room supplement.
7. Early arrivals and late departures
Palm Mountain Resort & Spa offers early arrivals and late departures. Call the resort directly to make these reservations at (760) 325-1301.We cannot make these reservations for you. Be sure to identify yourself as a CELS, (Program Provider for Road Scholar) participant.

8. Transportation
Transportation to the site is the responsibility of the Road Scholar participant. If you are in need of transportation from LAX (125mi), Ontario (70mi) airports you can call Express Shuttle at (800) 427-7483. You need to make reservations at least three (3) days in advance and verify times and prices. We recommend renting a car to maximize your enjoyment of optional activities during free time. *It is Road Scholar's policy for the participants not to drive their vehicle to any CELS program activities once the program has started. There will be a place on the forms you return to CELS for you to initial and release CELS if you would prefer to drive yourself

9. Clothing and Equipment
Comfort is the keynote for all activities. Check with www.weather.com for current conditions. Casual clothing, layered for changes of temperature.
10. Health, Information & Release Forms
Returning the All Programs Document found on this website does not enroll you in any of our programs!  MOST IMPORTANT  - Once you have received your registration confirmation from Road Scholar, please print out the All Programs Document  and return the completed forms (4 pages) to CELS, 38994 Desert Greens Drive East, Palm Desert, CA 92260) right away (do NOT return the forms to Road Scholar).

11. Directions to Palm Mountain Resort
Palm Mountain Resort is just a short 116 mile drive from Los Angeles and from San Diego. From the LA area,  take Interstate 10 east (West from Arizona) to Hwy.111/Palm Springs turnoff - 12 miles to the corner of Palm Canyon Drive and Tahquitz Canyon Way. Turn right on Tahquitz 1/2 block to the hotel. It is next to the Palm Springs Art Museum (look for their signs). Palm Mountain Resort is only 3 miles from the Palm Springs Airport. The hotel provides free Palm Springs Airport shuttle service for registered guests.

13. Important miscellaneous information
Please help CELS/Road Scholar and your fellow participants. If you must cancel your enrollment, please give us as much time as possible to notify people who might be on the wait list and need to arrive from another state. Call the Boston Road Scholar office promptly at (800) 454-5768. And if it is less than a week’s notice, also call us (CELS) at (760) 776-8874. If you cancel or will be delayed on the first day of the program, call the hotel at the number listed under ‘telephone’ above and leave a message for the CELS Coordinators so they don’t keep waiting for you. Our office is closed on Saturday and Sunday.

Travel on public transportation may be required at times during our program.

14. Film Festival Registration and Check In

Read the announcement board in the lobby for location. Hotel check-in is not until 4:00PM. If you arrive early, stroll the hotel in and out to get acquainted with their offerings. At registration you will be given a CELS packet with the weeks schedule, participation list, special events and a smile. Dinner is scheduled for 6:00 PM with orientation following dinner – check the white board for current information. Please bring your CELS packet, reading glasses and pen/pencil to Orientation. Please give family/friends and house sitters the hotel number to reach you in case of an emergency.

Meals
Lunches will be at the theater: Catered again this year by our local Aspen Mills Bread Company. Each day your taste buds will experience different homemade breads. This company uses only natural foods, no artificial additives, flavors, processed sugar, dairy products, fats or oils. The wheat bread is stone ground daily with natural wheat. Breads are sweetened with 100% natural honey - for our health conscious participants.

Clothing
Comfort is the keynote for all activities. Check with www.weather.com for current conditions. Casual clothing, layered for changes of temperature. The auditorium is sometimes cool, so remember to bring a light sweater or jacket. For those trying to break the record of 24 films viewed during the week, remember your eye drops and also a water bottle. If you prefer to drive (sign the transportation waiver at registration) you might want to bring along a folding chair or a blanket to sit on at lunch outside the high school auditorium where we have our private showings. If you prefer, you can eat inside.

Miscellaneous
Palm Springs Follies – If you are interested in the Fabulous Palm Springs Follies this year, call them directly for reservations at (760) 327-0225. This is not included in the tuition. Mention that you are a CELS/Road Scholar guest and you will receive a discount! You will have Wednesday night open to see the Follies from 7:00 – 9:30PM. www.psfollies.com

Thursday Night - You will have Thursday Night open to go to the Village Fest in downtown Palm Springs from 6-10PM. Also on Thursday the Palm Springs Art Museum is free from 4 – 8 PM.
