2011 Special CELS Film Festival

 

January 14-18, 2010 – 4 Night CELS Closing Night Gala Film Festival Program - #C011411

What is the Gala?
The closing night Gala consists of a popular film (selected by the Film Festival committee) shown at 6PM at the Palm Springs High School Auditorium. The closing night party on Sunday, 01/16/11, follows at the Spa Resort Hotel from 8:30-?? PM. Music, food and open bar all evening at the Closing Night Gala are included. This program is rather unique in comparison with our other Film Festival programs as it lets the participant choose the film viewing schedule that suits him/her best. You will receive eight film vouchers to view films of your choice on Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning. Sunday afternoon we will dine at Melvyn’s Restaurant and then on to the Closing Night Gala and party. Transportation will be provided to and from the Auditorium and the Gala.
What is the Best of the Fest?
People that attend the Festival vote after viewing each film. The films that receive the most audience votes during the Film Festival are shown again all day Monday, January 17, 2011 from 9AM-PM for the Best of the Fest. These films will play across the street from the Renaissance at the Regal Multi-Plex Theatre and at the Camelot Theatre behind the high school. The shuttle will run all day. You will be able to choose which films you want to view (4 vouchers are included).
Lodging:
Renaissance Hotel, 888 East Tahquitz Canyon Way, Palm Springs, CA 92264(Corner of Tahquitz & Avenida Caballeros) Phone: (760) 322-6000 – www.renaissancepalmspringshotel.com. Recently renovated! 3 Blocks from downtown Palm Springs. 1 block from the Spa Casino. Located next to the PS convention Center. 1.5 miles to the theater. Each room in the beautiful hotel has a television, phone, data port, hair dryer, coffee maker, iron/board and 2 double beds or a king upon request. Refrigerator available for an additional fee at the front desk. The resort offers an extra large heated outdoor pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, full service spa, restaurant, beauty salon, and full service business center. Bell Hops and Concierge service, daily paper and gift shop. Daily maid service. Please let us know if you will be traveling with others so we can try to put you near one another. This, of course, is subject to the availability of rooms. We do have handicap accessible rooms, some with roll in showers and tubs w/bars (request early).
Meals:
Include 4 breakfasts and 2 dinners. Lunches are on your own so you may eat at your leisure at a restaurant of your choice.
Is transportation provided to the theatre(s)?
Yes - The Free Film Festival Shuttle stops at the Renaissance every 20 minutes. It is the responsibility of the participant to make his/her own transportation arrangements other than for the Closing Gala.
Will I have to wait in line to see the films?
Yes- the films, times and theatres are all your choice for this program – so you will be attending with people not in our program. You will be given 4 vouchers for your individual choice of films and 4 vouchers for your choice of Best of the Fest films.

Where will we watch the films?
The Renaissance Hotel is located across the street from the Regal Multi-Plex theatre and the shuttle can take you to any of the other theatres.

Will there be time to see more movies on my own?
Since all of the films are your own choice and with less structured meals, you will have plenty of time to take in as many films as your eyes can endure! Enjoy meals at any of our 400 restaurants.
Do I need to purchase additional movie tickets in advance?
Upon your arrival, you will have an opportunity to purchase additional tickets at our special $8.50 price (regularly $10-$11). If you sign up for any 2 of our CELS programs, you will be given an opportunity to purchase our 8-pack vouchers for $64 (regularly $80-$88).

Where can I find a listing of all the films in the Palm Springs Film Festival?
After 12/15/10, visit www.psfilmfest.org for the most up to date film listing. Also check our local newspaper, The Desert Sun at www.mydesert.com for listings.

Are the films on the CELS 4 night Closing Night Gala & Best of the Fest program different than our 3N & 5N Film Festival programs?
Yes.
Will there be an opportunity to critique the films?
No. – Since you will be going to different films, each participant selects desired films to view.

How do I get to the other cinemas from my hotel?
Walk – Drive – take a Cab, ride the Sunline city bus (stops close to every hotel) or take the Free Film Festival Shuttle that stops at the Renaissance every 20 minutes. The shuttle also makes a loop of all the other film venues.

Will I have a chance to vote for the Festival Best of the Fest Award winners?
Yes. We vote after each of our films.

$1059 Double Occupancy; $1359 Single Occupancy

Cancellation Policy:  Due to the hotel and Film Festival Gala deadlines, the cancellation refund dates are as follows:

6/1/10 – 11/01/10 80% of the total paid will be refunded
11/02/10 – 11/24/10 50% of the total paid will be refunded
