1. Registration and Check-In
CELS, a program provider for Elderhostel registration is between 4:30 - 5:00 and a wine social & introductions at 5:15pm on the first day of the program, read the announcement board in the lobby for location.  Check at the desk to see if your room is ready AFTER 3:30.  At registration you will be given a CELS packet with the weeks schedule, participation list, special events and a smile.  Dinner is at 6:00 PM with orientation following dinner.  Please bring your CELS packet, reading glasses and pen/pencil to dinner.

4. Lodging
This is a non-smoking resort. Each room has a TV, phone, refrigerator, Jacuzzi tub, a queen bed. One room with 2 double beds and a shower instead of Jacuzzi is available on a first come first served basis – request early to reserve. Saddleback Inn is a unique, totally-restored, historical inn, originally constructed in 1917. The inn features a full-service restaurant & bar.  Beautiful grounds in amongst the beautiful lush vegetation. Rooms are cleaned daily. Please let us know if you will be traveling with others so we can try to put you near one another. This, of course, is subject to availability of rooms. There are no elevators at the site and all rooms require climbing stairs. Participants will need to be able to climb 13 steps to get to the meeting room. The activity level for this site is set at Level 2.
5. Meals
All meals will be provided at hotel or on field trips (if included in trip).
6. Requesting a Roommate
When there are participants requesting a roommate, each two people (of the same sex) will be assigned to one room (having two beds). Important: If you originally requested to be assigned a roommate, and then change to request a Single room on your All Programs Document(which you send to us), you must contact Elderhostel Boston to arrange for payment of the single room supplement.

7. Early Arrivals and Late Departures
Saddleback Inn offers early arrivals and late departures. Call the inn directly to make these reservations at 1-800-858-3334. We cannot make these reservations for you. Be sure to identify yourself as aCELS, a program provider for Exploritas, dba Elderhostel participant. Their rates depend on what is taking place at the time in Lake Arrowhead.

8. Transportation
Transportation to the site is the responsibility of the participant . Car rentals are available at the airport. From Ontario, it is a very nice scenic, easy 45 minute drive, with many turn-outs, please use them if holding up traffic. If you prefer, you may hire a van with Express Shuttle (800) 427-7483. You need to make reservations at least three (3) days in advance and verify times and prices. We recommend renting a car to maximize your enjoyment of optional activities during free time. 9. Clothing and Equipment
Comfort is the keynote for all activities.  Check with www.weather.com for current conditions.   Elevation is at 5,100 feet and the evenings are cool.  Casual clothing, layered for changes of temperature. 

10. Health & Safety & Release Forms
Returning the All Programs Document found on this website does not enroll you in any of our programs! Please do not send this form unless you have confirmation from Elderhostel Headquarters in Boston of your enrollment. Once you are enrolled, please print and fill out the All Programs Documentcompletely (both pages) and return IMMEDIATELY to us. MOST IMPORTANT, we need this information for nametags, hotel and room assignments and transportation requirements, which are done weeks before a program. Elderhostel Headquarters has a new security policy that prevents us from printing your city on the nametags and participation lists.

11. Directions to Lake Arrowhead Saddle Back Inn
From LA: Take Hwy 10 East to Highway 215 North, go North about 3 miles and bear right toward Mountain Resorts which is Hwy 30 East. Go 3 exits to Highway 18 (Waterman Ave.) and go North (left). Follow Highway 18 North (toward Crestline, Lake Arrowhead) into the mountains. You are about 17 miles from the Lake Arrowhead turnoff. When you get to the Lake Arrowhead turnoff, Hwy 173, TURN LEFT on Hwy 173 and continue to The Saddleback Inn, about three (3) miles. The inn is located on your left opposite the Fire Department at the entrance to Lake Arrowhead Village.

13. Important miscellaneous information
Please, please, please don’t be a no-show. 

Help CELS and your fellow participants.  If you must cancel your enrollment, please give us as much time as possible to notify people who might be on the wait list and need to arrive from another state.  Call the Boston Elderhostel office promptly, and if it is less than a weeks notice, also call us at (760) 776-8874.  On the day of the program call the resort 909-336-3571 and leave a message for the CELS Coordinators so they don’t keep waiting for you.  Our office is closed on Saturday and Sunday.
